40 Gbit/s to model and simulate in real time 
The needs for more accurate, rapid and interactive  numerical simulations, for high resolution visualisation with post processing, for dynamic data storage (image wall, virtual reality, immersive CAO, medical applications …) are rapidly increasing. 

They require to employ top-classes of
supercomputers and storage means as well as competences in complex system resolution. The region « Ile-de-France » develops such means through centers like Ter@tec or Digiteo, or through  projects like Fame2. 

The remote access to these means via high capacity optical networks is a unique opportunity for « L’Ile-de-France » to meet the ambitions of industrial and academic sectors in automotive, avionics, geophysics, energy production, health, materials, physics …

The 40Gb/s transponder prototypes have been deployed on the Bruyeres le Chatel-Saclay and Saclay-Clamart links, performance are at nominal level.

Technical Workshop between CARRIOCAS and European PHOSPHORUS projects was organized on July 15th and 16th 2008 to exchange views on the interfaces between distributed applications and advanced network control and management functions.
