The "Paris Innovation tour" has been organised by Paris municipality and the industry and commercial agency of Paris. In the thematic "Very high bit rate in the city and mobility: Which impacts on the usage", the workshop
Thematic
The needs for high performance applications for scientific and industrial numerical modelling are dramatically increasing in volume and complexity and they generate strong demands for very high bit rate connections enabling the remote usage of distributed computing, storage, visualisation or instrumentation resources. Their requirements steams a lot of innovative studies for the network community, in terms of flexible high bit rate transmission, of dynamic and application aware resource provisioning, of quality of service (QOS) management, generally experimented in dedicated research networks. These innovations should pave the way of a next generation Internet valuable for broader usage including residential QOS and bit rate exigent applications, provided they present the scalability performance required for a deployment on a converged infrastructure.
Questions to be debated
This conference aims to discuss the driving factors, technical requirements and enablers as well as business environment of such an evolution."
Three representants from CARRIOCAS, O. Audouin (Alcatel-Lucent), F. Capello (INRIA) et F. Moriaud (Medit) participated, besides J. Dang (HEC), S. Fdida (LIP6) et D. Zeghlache (INT) who chaired the workshop.
